Default 98 XJ Strange brake light issue

I have a strange problem with my brake lights. My passenger side brake light was out so I replaced the bulb. When I did this, my center brake light stopped working. If I remove the passenger side bulb the center light starts to work again.

Any ideas would be great?

Clean your grounds, they are inside the left rear just rearward of the spare tire carrier (about as high as the gas cap door). JMHO

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, check your grounds. See my sig, #1, for locations.

Oh, and like Sig220 said, check your grounds. Can't hurt to clean the sockets and replace the center bulb, too. Some dielectric grease is a good thing.
