Default 98 xj sport trans issues....

Well picked up a new xj last weekend to replace my totaled 2000 xj. 169k auto 4.0 4wd. Has a 2" or so lift soft 8s or whatever brand they are black wheels. Anyway had a code whole test driving previous owner said it was the neutral safety switch. Gear range sensor whatever its called I pulled it the other day and cleaned/ greased it and code for that is gone. Still getting a torque convertor lock up code P0740 I believe it is. However I'm not seeming to have any issues keeping me from going into od. I'm only running 2100 or so rpm at 60. Seems like it is running fine? Any thoughts or ideas? My new trans filter and gasket kit showed up from quadratec today so a trans drain and filter is on the agenda for the weekend.

Also on a somewhat related issue there is some vibration on accel and some sort of a grinding on decel. Only thing is the decel noise isn't consistent. It's make a short grinding groaning noise on decel or off throttle and doesn't do it for long periods of time? I picked up some 1" square tubing and new bolts to do a t-case drop and see if that will help?
