98 XJ seat disassembly (Please Help!!!)
Well i took out all my seats and already washed the rear but the front is being a PITA. I already got the back and bottom disconnected from each other and im trying to get the covers off. How do I get the bottom cover disconnected? It is hooked into the main support system.
Thank you.
Thank you.

They are much more difficult to get off than the rear cover. They are secured by several small metal rings called "hog rings" I just gave up and and wet vac'd them using a shop vac. Worked pretty well.

look on youtube how to deal with hog rings
way easy to undo with needlenose pliers
redoing them w/o hogring pliers is a pita.....most (incl me) just reinstall with zipties.

Sorry I don't have any pictures but the other replies are correct. There are, if my memory is correct, about 8 of the hog rings per upper and lower sections. Take your time. If you don't have hog ring pliers just use a couple of pairs of needle nose pliers. Got my off my 97' model soaked them with with Spray-N-Wash, scrubbed them with a good brush and then ran them two times thru the washing machine on the hot cycle. They came out 500% better looking and smelling. Take pictures as you take things apart my also be recommended.
