I just picked up a 98' XJ about a week ago and up until 2 days ago everything was working great. But i noticed that the power door locks began to work intermittently or sometimes not at all. The next thing was the headlights would/will not always turn off after you turn the switch off, only after u cycle the key will they shut off. Now the main issue...starting. You turn the key on and all the gauges work properly, roll the key to start it and u get a loud click and nothing, the gauges go blank. The problem fixes itself only after u cycle the key on and off a random amount of times, each time producing a different symptom such as the door locks cycling or the brake light coming on very dim for a few seconds. I apologize for the lengthy description but i would greatly appreciate any help or advice! Thanks

 

clean terminals at battery sounds like connection or battery probs

 

Cleaned the terminals on the battery and tightened connections. Started first time i tried it. Shut it off then tried again...no start. I hooked a charger up to it and tried to start it again, no start and the power locks are going insane!
