Question '98 Sport = keyless entry / interior lights stay on???

Hey guys,

Just started happening tonight. My interior lights are staying on. I've checked all the door switches and they are fine--I haven't pulled them yet though but I guess I'll have to tomorrow.

Question is, my Jeep has factory keyless entry. Hitting the unlock button will turn the lights on for a short time. Could it be the module that controls this in the dome light? I did change out for custom interior LEDs but didnt have a problem until now.

I also saw a post about a "headlight delay" module. Maybe two or three times, my headlights have stayed on for a short time after switching them off, but never usually. 'm not sure if I have this module or not. I would love to disable it if so. Do the Sport trim levels have this?

Thanks for any help.

OK, so I know no one has offered any ideas but the problem is fixed--not sure how, but here's what I did.

1. Pulled the 10a fuse for the headlight delay module. That fixed the light problem.
2. After starting up, I realized my instrument cluster didn't work at all.
3. Replaced the headlight delay module fuse with the same one I took out.
4. ???
5. Profit

Strange! But a good thing to try out in case anyone else has this trouble...

Glad you got it taken care of. I would have given some in put But I have never had to mess with the lighting system for that kind of reason. And I didn't want to steer you in the wrong direction. I don't think I would have been any help. At least you got her taken care of.

Hey, it's the thought that counts! I still don't quite understand the delay module. It has worked a total of 2 times on my Jeep, 2 more times than I would have liked it to work.

I know there's a delay for the keyless entry so that was the first place I looked, but that was all OK.

I know that the delay should only work if you turn off the Jeep and remove the key before you turn off the head light. Then the head light and interior light will stay on for a little bit.

Ahh, interesting. I will have to experiment when I get a chance. I do recall that when it did happen I turned the headlight switch off after I pulled the key out. Thanks!
