Ill make it as simple and straight forward as I can! 1998 four door sport, 4.0, auto trans, nine stock!
Check engine light came on today and pulled the code it's a p1749. Indicated tcc solenoid. I believe when it said it it was c? Just wondering of any ideas on what to look for. The sokenoids are crazy expensive and dont want to replace unless I absolutely have too. I was reading somewhere to check/ replace the case ground, any idea where that is at actually? Or has anyone else had a similar problem and what was your fix? Thanks for all the help.

This is the exact definition of your DTC:
Definition of Jeep DTC P1749
Make:JeepCode:P1749Definition:Transmission Throttle Valve Position Sensor Circuit Low
Basically, two options.
1) Clear the code and see if it reoccurs. My wife was using my '98 until I fixed her rear main seal in the '97 and she got a transmission DTC. No problems, shifting, however. I cleared the code and it never came back. Just a fluke. Happens.
2) If it does reoccur and/or you are having driveability issues, replace the sensor. I doubt that it's a grounding problem, though it is never a bad thing to check the ground straps for general principles. The engine ground location is easily visible under the hood.

the code did come back and had a one time only sluggish shift from 1-2, but from what I've read and off my scanner is not the throttle valve sensor but the solenoid. Unless its just different wording saying the same thing?!
