Default 98 jeep cherokee, radiator won't drain??

Hi, I've got a 98 Jeep Cherokee, I'm wanting to flush the radiator/cooling system, this morning I got underneath it and turned the valve on the bottom passenger side of the radiator a quarter turn and nothing came out. I then took the cap off, fluid came out of the cap but still nothing from the bottom. It's such a flimsy piece of plastic, I really don't want to break it off, can anyone tell me is this a quarter turn valve or do I need to keep twisting it??? or is there an easier way? should I just take off the lower hose instead?? I have the prestone flush valve installed on the upper heater core hose and I plan to use that. Thanks for any help!! It's a real bear to get at and I definately don't want to break it off or open it and then not be able to close it again. thanks! Doofy

Drain it by disconnecting the lower radiator hose.

if you pull out the passenger side turn signal you can reach it a lot easier from in there, and yes its more then a quarter turn, i pull mine completely out, which i dont advise because it comes out really fast and you gotta be prepared to catch it, which i wasnt haha

Default update

Ok, I took out the turn signal light and access was slightly better, I had it turned where it felt all the way out and there was just a real slight drip drip drip...I took off the radiator cap to vent it, and still just a real slow drip drip. Is that valve supposed to come all the way out? I just don't want to break the damn thing and then have to run to an auto parts store. A crappy little plastic valve...thanks for any help guys

I "never " use the petcock. Too flimsy and they break and then you've got problems.

Drop lower hose. Easy and quick. No risk.
