98 front brakes to a 86?

Lightbulb 98 front brakes to a 86?

i have a parts XJ that has next to brand new rotors and all, and my 86's brakes are garbage since it was sitting for 5+yrs. what would i need to do to swap them? obviously i have all the parts ready......

Well, if the parts are the same it should be simple. Remove the wheels, the calipers (2 bolts) and slide the rotors off. Exchange the parts onto the other one and be done. Should be about an hour job.

The nuckles are diff. from 91+. 90 and down calipers only work. I tried to put 98 brakes on a 87 front dana 30. didnt even come close.

Is it 4wd? i want to say no the rotor will not fit the bearing hubs are a little off but you can make the breaks work just have to change more than just rotors bearings, calipers ...

Sorry but they wont I just swapped a 97 front axle temporarily and the whole braking system was different.

x2. change the knuckles. very easy job.
89 and down, the brake mount is a removable piece and has wider mounting points.

i put in an 89 axle under my 90 and had to swap the knuckles over.

depending on the year of your parts jeep, the hub, rotors along with the calipers all need to change also as the hat height on the rotor may be wrong. still all an easy job.

yea i was just seeing if its a simple job, but ill just buy new ones for the 86.

Nice to know so I can take all my new brake hardware and switch it back over.
