Default 98 cherokee xj a few ?'s

ok so about a week ago i went and looked at a rust free xj 98 4.0 5 speed 4 door now there no rust underneath and tapped on rockers there solid. came from Wyoming but everything i been reading i am scared to pull up carpet and see how bad it is. i am thinking of picking her up tomorrow but i need advice ? the guy wont let me tear up carpet now with no rust underneath and on body i would think floors would be solid if everything else is i going to rhino line floor for when i do wheel it

the jeep has a radio only i trying to figure out if its a 2 speaker or 4 speaker? i dont like the ugly green but that can be changed . it has all new fluids new transfer case and i took her up to 80 no shakes or wobbles is it worth 2750 4.0 5 speed 4x4 no rust that i seen and was all underneath it crank windows no power anything just the way i want it less to break in my opinion . this is my first xj that why i concerned i had a grand Cherokee be for and i loved it but the xj seems ok even if i got to stick some cash in her also has 181k on her but all new fluids so i want opinions please .

That color (and the manual locks/windows) reminds me of a Park Ranger/Gov fleet vehicle.

Rear speakers will be in the back hatch or in a sound bar mounted to the ceiling in the back. I'm almost positive none of the XJ's came with 2 speaker systems in 98.

As for rust, if you don't see any, and are still worried, pull back the carpets. For that price, for a 98, I'd say it's a great value as long as it's not falling apart from rot.

You should be able to tell the condition of the floors reasonably well by tapping on them from underneath. You can also press on the rear cargo floor (in the corners!) and see if there's any crunch. Also flip up the back seat bottom cushion and check the floor corners near where the front spring shackles are located, that's another common rust spot. I actually had holes there, lol.

That black paint strip along the door bottoms and rockers doesn't look factory to me. Might be some door or rocker repairs hiding under there, or might just be rock guard for the heck of it- take a careful look.

a 98 in good condition with minimal rust would sell for that price easily around here, but prices are a regional thing. You could check craigslist, etc to see what similar XJ's are selling for in your area. IMHO if it's a good runner with no major issues and everything works as it should- it's a fair price.
