98 Cherokee making roaring sound
Hey everybody I am new to the forum and hopefully someone out there can give me some idea as to what type of problem I am having with my cherokee. I have a 1998 Cherokee with 104K on it. Engine runs great and transmission seems to be good too! I have had it for a little over 5 months now and it has always had a lot of road noise however the roaring seems to be getting louder and now I am experiencing some vibration too. Noise gets really loud over 40 mph. I had read that it could be the hub bearings but when I jacked it up to check slack in the tire I didn't seem to notice any...Therefore I am wondering if someone could shed some light on my subject? Thanks.

Sounds like you might have front axle pinion bearing problems. It's rather common. The way to check climb under there and grab the front drive shaft see if you have any movement at the front pinion. If you do than that is your problem..

My elec. fan was bad and when it would come on it roared and it felt like the whole jeep was vibrating. Can you hear it anytime you go over 40 or just once in awhile.
