Default 98 Cherokee issues

I have a 98 Cherokee 4 liter manual trans. bought new. It, when fired cold will run fine all day. Run it up to temp and shut it down and let it sit for as little as ten min. When re fired it may run OK for a few hundred yards then lose power. It's like it's over fueling. Mash the throttle and it stumbles for a second then goes. This whole event last for maybe 1/4 mile , then runs fine as long as it isn't shut off and sits for a few minutes. No codes. It's done this for a few years and I've lived with it. It has got no worse from when the problem started. Dealer can't find it. Suggested a MAP sensor and a TPS , all no help. Put new cap, rotor, plug and wires just because of the mileage 118000, again no help. If it was carbureted , when the problem starts, it's like the choke was stuck part way. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When you restart it does it run a little rough? To me it kinda sounds like heat soak, you should look it up and see if it somewhat matches your issue

Thanks for the reply. I did a search on Heat Soak. Some sounds right however, when I fire the engine hot it runs great for 1/4 mile or so then falls on is face(like its over fueling. No missfire but it will backfire in the exhaust. That only lasts for a couple minutes then it's OK until it's shut off. It will do it in the winter also(New England). Mash the throttle when the problem occurs, stumbles, backfires then runs smooth until fired and run when hot.
