OK, so I have a '98 Cherokee with a frustrating E-Brake problem. My brother borrowed it at some point last week, which would be inconsequential except for the fact that he returned it without the little button atop the E-Brake lever. Now, the E-Brake brakes just fine... Stops the Jeep just as well as it did before... However, (I'm assuming it's due to the lack of that little button) it no longer remains engaged in the 'pulled' position. Is there any non-complete replacement (of the lever) method that works rather well, or is replacement my only option? By the by, I do have access to a 2000 Grand Cherokee parts Jeep if I need to cannibalise (if that would even work)...
Thanks for your help and ideas!

I may just try the GC's lever. Just for diagnostics' sake, what exactly does the button control during the pulling process? Because the lever no longer 'ratchets' into the 'hold' position...
