98 Cherokee, a/c evaporator part question
Howdy. I am in the process of replacing this evaporator, and when I opened the box that the cores are in, a piece fell out of place. I cannot figure out where it fits into, and I have gone over the manuals and part catalogs and cannot find it. I suppose it could be a random part that fell into a door or vent, but I believe that to be a slim chance. It could even be a spare part from the factory, but again, slim chance. The pics are attached. If anyone knows what this is or where it goes, I would love to know. It doesn't seem to change or affect any of the flow doors or blend door. All advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Wow, after posting, I found your thread and have the same issue. Did you end up finding where it went? I've positioned mine in about every conceivable place in the HVAC box with no luck.

Apparently I was subbed to this thread and forgot all about this.
I did find where it goes. It supports the heater core near the blend door:

Here is the space before it is put in (you can see a faint outline on the bottom)

Ya same thing happened to me. It goes behind the heater core on the side closest to the evap core, before you put the lid back on. it should slide right in
