hey guys, i have a 98 xj 4.0 4x4 auto that is nearing 300K, i happened across a 99 4.0 4x4 with low miles that i can aquire the tranny and t-case from. is there any difference or is it same- same?

 

The only auto used in the 98/99's was the aw4 so theres no concerns there at all. The two possibilities for the t-caae are the np231 and the np242, but it really doesn't matter since it'll all bolt right up without any issues, so you're good to just swap them over.
