I have a automatic 97' XJ Country 4.0 inline 6. The other day it wouldn't start unless I gave it throttle, and it wouldn't idle it would stall if I didn't keep my foot on the gas. I replaced the TPS and cleaned my idle air control valve and that didn't help. My check engine light came on the other day and I had the codes checked. It threw out P0753 solenoid transmission relay circuit failure, P0743 torque converter clutch solenoid circuit failure, P0705 check shifter signal circuit malfunction. I've heard from a few people that it might be a short somewhere. Does anyone else have any other opinions? Thanks in advance any inputs are greatly appreciated.

Coming from an engineer:
People who have no clue about electricity throw that word, "short" around every time something goes wrong.
Its rarely a short.
Shorts usually cause blown fuses and sometimes melted wires. In very rare cases, a wire may wind up crossed to another circuit. Possible, but very rare.
I don't know what your problem is, but a short is waaaaaay far down on the list of possibles, a couple of notches above "aliens playing with your mind".
I hope some other folks can chime in with more help for you.

Justin,
The first step is to clean up your battery connections and ground connections. This has a way of solving many random issues. Its free, and takes about 15 minutes. A bad ground connection can cause a variety of starting problems and component related error codes.

Good call, Jordan. That's a great place to start.
Justin, see my sig, #1, for advice on that.
