Default 97 XJ Transmission Solenoid Packs Replacement

I'm currently looking at a 97 XJ 4x4 and the guy says the check engine light is on because it needs the transmission solenoid packs replaced. Is this very difficult to change and is it a commong problem? Thanks

Not a hard job.
Just drain the trans, remove the pan, remove the filter, swap the solenoids replace the filter, replace the pan and new gasket, fill and done.

Problem is, if the jeep is not lifted much, you will be on your back with a trans a couple inches from your face and a lot of trans fluid dripping on you...
Best to put on tall jack stands or find a friend with a lift...

OP, did you replace them yet? I have an xj w/the same problem. Says code P0758 solenoid b.

These guys have a 2 pack for less, but not sure which is solenoid b.

I have a 04 JGC WJ, 4.7 V8, 4x4 and trying to replace the tranny solenoid, 5-45 RFE. Does anyone know where I can find detailed installation instructions? Also, I have a new updated solenoid pack. It looks a little different but I'm cautious to install it. I've been assured that it's the new replacement item. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

There are 3 solenoids in the AW4 trans. S1 and S2 are the shift solenoids and S3 is for lockup. They reside on the LH side of the trans and are accessible by dropping the pan, and can be changed without removing the filter.

I was warned by the local independent trans guy to avoid cheap solenoids. I ordered mine through Jeep and paid more for it, but it is genuine AW.
