Default 97 XJ ignition question

Have a crank/no start condition on my Daughter's 97. Replaced CPS, still no good.

Took the coil out and see a big crack in it... that's no good. I then probed the dark green/orange wire on the harness and had the Wife crank it over. Oddly enough I only got 10v from that. It's my understanding that the coil requires a good 12v to fire.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to just throw parts at this thing.

Thanks in advance

Tried a new coil... still no joy. Anybody got a suggestion for my next step?

I am guessing the CPS is for crank position sensor? It maybe the cam positon sensor, or I think the auto parts stores call it the ignition pickup. It is the plate in the distributor, I would check the wires and connection that come out of the distributor to see if they are OK. With just replacing the plate, you don't have to worry about being off a tooth if you replace the whole distributor, which would mess with the timing.
Not sure if there is a way to test it, but maybe an internet search you mind find a way to test it, mine tossed a code for it.

Work didn't allow me to get back to this until today.

Great news though, it sure was the camshaft position sensor. Took all of about 5.5 minutes to swap it out and now she fires right up.

Thanks for the reply!
