Default '97 gauge swap?

Hey guys,

Just acquired a bone stock base model post facelift 97 XJ with 5 spd. Has the gauge cluster with dummy lights and no tach and I need to teach the wife how to drive a manual. I'd rather her learn by watching the tach rather than trusting the shift light and also I myself would like a better indicator for temp for both of us. Is a 97-01 cluster with tach and gauges a direct swap for the '97 with no tach and dummy lights? Can anyone refer me to a DIY for the swap? I had trouble finding one for 97 up, but did find a few for 96-below. Thanks!

It was a direct swap for me in my 99, should be for you in your 97. Odometer will be different though. I think there's a youtube video on how to do the swap itself.
