Ok I have read alot of threads on different years of jeeps and on gc models but not mine. I have a 97 cherokee sport 4.0 with automatic tranny. So far has had new in the last year; tps,coil,iac valve,temp sensor,cps,cam sensor/ignition pickup,cap and rotor, plugs, and asd relay. While driving different distances it just suddenly shuts off like someone removed the spark. Try to restart and it will once then die. Then wont start again for a while and I can smell unburnt gas thru exhaust. My ecu/pcm isnt mounted on firewall like the ones with the too long of a screw issue. Mine is by the air filter box. Is the screw shorting the computer out on these too? Any help is greatly appreciated...

 

Sounds like a bad fuel pump... Getting hot then dying, then it will run fine again once it cools down and then the process repeats.
