'97 4L Strange Idle Behavior

Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0L
Hate to revive an old thread, but I figured it out! Turns out that the timing chain was too loose and there was a ±10° play which then made the camshaft sensor pick up the slop. That was causing just enough play to cause issues without throwing a code. It didn't help that a bunch of the sensors were reporting bad values but now I just need to replace the timing chain haha. Fun weekend ahead...
