97 4.0 into a 94
I just picked up another slug for the engine bay, its a 4.0... SURPRISE out of my buddies 97 that he parted out, what all do i need to swap over, i know the intake and fuel system is different, what about the belt tensioner, can that be left or does it require swapping the 94 stuff as well... The only other thing is the injectors, he had neon 704's in it...... trying to make it a quick In'n out deal, hopefully with 2-people, only about a 4-6 hour job!!!!!!

the belts and tensioners should be the same but most of the elctrical plugs and sensors might be different. i would pull yours out and have both motors next to each other and swap all diff/necessary parts. shouldnt take long and its easier to do it all out of the jeep.

Swap the power steering pump and bracket to the new engine, the connectors will be different, so you'll have to swap the coil, oil pressure sender, stator, temp sensor etc. The '94 had 2 sensors for coolant temp, the one on the the thermostat housing, and one on the back of the head. Ive seen people put a tee into the thermostat housing and making the wires longer to reach the front of the engine.
