So I just picked up another XJ to use for a project, it's a 1998 SE model and has manual crank windows. The driver's side window slips but I can get it up and down still with a little messing around with it. I can't find a replacement regulator anywhere, looks like Mopar discontinued it and absolutely nothing for aftermarket that I can find. Hard to believe nobody makes one......so it looks like Ebay or pick a part is my only choice?

 

Doublecheck the teeth on the crank and the regulator for worn or missing teeth. If the regulator is dirty or gummed up, clean and relube. Make sure theres nothing stuck anywhere jamming up the works.

If you do in fact need a replacement, they dont make aftermarkets for manual. Only power. Parts yards are questionable as manuals tend to be stripped quick. They dont show up often in the CF sales forum either. Try ebay. Use the "Advanced Search" in the upper right, next to the normal "Search" button, and look for the sellers "deadjeeps" and "macsusedcars0". I found a couple things from both i had trouble with elsewhere, including a couple regulators for a project of my own. There are others parting out XJ, the ones that show you the actual vehicle, and some of the listings are for manual window regulators. They can be a tad pricey, but they arent the easiest things to find. Theres an option to check ebay stores also.

When the results show, you can sort them by distance. If you find what
you're looking for, call the yard's number to make sure they still have it.

The first time i used it, it was to get a rear manual window regulator.
