Default 97-01 doors on an 87-96 cherokee

so i got my jeep broken into and they tried to steel it with no prevail due to a kill switch and clutch lock (THANK GOD) so now my drivers door is really ****ed up and i was wondering if 1997-2001 cherokee doors will fit on my 1988 cherokee with no modification. will the lines match up or should i just replace my drivers door?

Just replace it with a matching door of the same year model. Unless you want to do a lot of mods and fab work.

Boy what a bunch of killjoys on this site.

The answer to your question (and not some lame Don't touch anything post) is yes the lines do match up BUT the hinges have to be changed and the latching mechanism is different. You have to modify the "B" pillar post to use the newer doors.
Some fab work is involved and is not to be taken lightly as you do not want the doors to come open in the event of a crash.
Having said that it is possible to swap in the newer doors with some work.
Nothing a competent shop or experienced person can't handle.

Now you have some GOOD info to make your decision on.

Now do a search!!!! there are posts on this site that discuss it further.
