96xj 2door floor air duct
I have no idea if you know what I'm talking about, but its the small box that "turns" the air, going straight down from the duct under the middle of the dash, then directs it to the footwells and the small plastic duct to the rear seats. My question is that the "door" that controls the airflow to the floor has a gasket on it to keep air from "leaking" out of the door when it's not open "to allow all air to go to the defroster vents, not have air lost because of a worn foam gasket) is there any way to "fix" it and allow the seal to be made once again so I don't lose "air pressure" to the selected setting? Sorry for the long and rambly post, pictures to follow in about 2mins.
Thanks,

If you look at the gap between the black box and the grey part of the dash you can see a foam gasket. That's not the one I'm talking about
I had my whole center console removed today because I was putting my carpet back in because of rust repairs. If you remove that black box, the door that controls the airflow to the floor is attached to the "vacuum rod" has its own gasket so when the door is shut, no air escapes, and "all" of the air goes where you tell it to with no "leaks". On high, not a lot of air comes out of my dash vents, and I think it's because of this "leak". Unless there is a "leak" somewhere else? Is there a way to test this? Sorry for this long post, I'm trying to explain it as detailed as possible because most people probably have never seen it.
Thanks
