Hey all, any help would be much appreciated on this one. My buddies 96 cherokee turns over but will not start. The crank position sensor, coil, and distributor have been replaced and it didn't solve anything. There seems to be zero spark going into the coil. Is there a possibility there could be something wrong with the computer?

i can only think of two things? one is on an 89 that i had, it would just turn over and over sometimes out of the blue? when i would check it, it wouldn't have any spark? after wiggling and searching a few mins it would crank. to make a long story short it finally ended up being the groung strap to the firewall had corroded in two. next time was on my current 2000, it would blow the asd fuse and kill all fire. after being stranded and gettting towed home the last time i finally found a part of the wiring harness shorting on the transmission dip stick (at night). it had rubbed through the insulation. just two of my experiences.....

 

good imput, the other night my 88 failed to start, wiggled conneceters, disconected and reconnected battery and still had crank with no start, the next day i do the same stuff and hook up a spark tester and my jeep starts, no idea what changed but ill check my ground wires

 

Thanks for the input. There is a good possibility it could be a sketchy ground wire somewhere, because sometimes it will start up fine and sometimes it won't.
