Kim, the multi function switch is the headlight switch that you manipulate to control the headlights. Your problem is continuity in the harness, so jump the connector with 16 ga wire and shrink wrap. It sounds janky, but it works and you'll never have the problem again.
Had a full Saturday afternoon and a couple of Cold beers in front of me......
Took everything apart again, followed wires (found complete headlight wiring diagram) and found that power was OK from headlight switch to headlight delay relay, and from headlight delay relay to multifunction switch. However no power left multifunction switch on the purple/white wire.
Unmounted multifunction switch, took it apart and cleaned and sanded all copper switches until nice and shiny and applied dielectric grease. Also cleaned connector on steering column.
VOILA!!! Low beam and hi beam working again......
.....and Putco headlight harness upgrade installed.......cannot wait to go for a ride at night...
