Default 96 XJ C8.25 3.55... Do I Buy?

I found a great deal on a 96 XJ C8.25 axle with 3.55 gears in it with 130K on it...

I have a D35 right now... I know the 97s come with the 29 Spline..

And the 96s have 27 spline count..

Its complete... I was offered it at 50.00 dollars...

Do I buy it.. and swap it in... or keep looking for a 29 Spline?

Sorry.. Im a nub when it comes to Axles..

The 29 is basically a slide in axle upgrade to the 27 and Randy's R & P has 29 spline 1541H alloy axles for 70.62 each. Depending on the locker that could be your whole cost.

Thanks Rock Toy.. I had no idea it was that easy.

I'll have to do some more research and see what the cost would be for the shafts and a locker.. I want to get this axle done right the first time

BUY IT! The Turdy5 axle is doodoo. The 8.25 is cheap to upgrade and to repair. With alloy inners and a locker. You can run 33's no prob and 35's if you don't completely beat it to hell. Good luck and killer find.

The 29 is an easy upgrade, but if you're going to run an open unlocked rear end you will need to change the spider gears.

Alright.. I think I'll wait on the gears so I can get the front and rear done at the same time... Need to find a shop as well.

I'll order the shafts this week..
