I need the help of someone that's done this before. I'm literally asking everywhere. For the sake of my sanity, I'm converting from infrared to radio frequency keyless entry. Went out and bought a new aftermarket Keyless Entry and I have no idea which wire is which on the stock module harness on my jeep. Here's a pic:
..and here's the new KE:
need wiring diagrams for the stock module harness.. can't find them anywhere for a 95 -96
On my Jeep, the remote RF module was wired under the dash on the left side. None of the overhead wiring was touched or removed. My suggestion is to find a shop and let them install it if you have any doubts about what you are doing.
mine was a 45 min job. tapped into the factory harness in the ohc. just had to run a wire to the light switch so my parking lights would work. google the wire harness diagram for ya jeep.

I found the harness under the driver's side kick panel. (not sure what ohc stands for) An expert I spoke to told me not to mess with the harness to the stock module. As a matter of fact, made clear to emphasize this by saying "do NOT.." so I'm guessing this can cause some damage.
I don't plan to take this to a dealer. I feel like there is enough information and informative people out there that make paying for this operation a waste of money. Unless I don't have the tools to do the job, I would rather do it myself. Plus, just need to lock and unlock my doors. The lights and alarm system would be an added plus but it's a cosmetic issue since I have enough serious issues to fix and limited finances.
Jeependad: you ran into an issue with the parking lights? Could you provide a little more detail on how you succeeded in the wiring? What could you get to work and what doesn't work? (E.g.: alarm, dome light lock notif, Headlight lock & unlock notif, trunk release..)
theres nothing wrong with using the wiring in the over head consul. and i just had to tap into the parking light wire so the would flash when i locked and unlocked. its a easy job. if you decide to hook up the lead for your flash you will have to pull the dash apart
This is frustrating me tried wiring in both the overhead and DKick panel. Nothing. My door switches still work on the doors so that's good.. what the hell am I doing wrong?!? I've decided to just go with a kick panel installation as there are abundantly more wires to choose from, and a convenient place to store it out of the way.
According to the "expert":
you need to locate the
Lock = ORANGE/VIOLET
Unlock = PINK/VIOLET
Located in the Driver Kick Panel / Door Harness
Connect the WHITE wire to the ORANGE / VIOLET Jeep wire
Connect the WHITE / BLACK wire to the PINK / VIOLET Jeep wire
Connect the YELLOW & YELLOW / BLACK together & connect to a Fused Constant Voltage + source of the Jeep
If you guys see anything here let me know... I'm running out of daylight and REALLY hoped to finish this today. This is the Driver Side kick harness I used
(Jeep) ORG/VIO + (Module) WHT
(Jeep) PNK/VIO + (Module) WHT/BLK
Red arrow point to the constant power supply I chose.
(Module) YEL + YEL/BLK + RED(w. fuse) + (Jeep) Red Constant
still unsuccessful.. I stopped at sundown... ..but I know I'm close! Wired everything up accordingly, Jeep) lock/unlock to Module) lock/unlock, Module power to jeep power. I ran a tester to ensure the constant is getting consistent power. tomorrow morning I have to ensure voltage to the lock/unlock wires since the remotes still won't work. beginning to worry that I might have a faulty unit.. went and tested the RF key fob at autozone today and the damn thing had to be practically touching the tester for it to work. the last chrysler key fob I tested passed being over two feet from the tester.. What a pain in the @$$!!! I expected this to not take more than an hour. Took my whole day off trying to troubleshoot this in 105 degree heat index!!!
