Default 96 Wiper pump motor, install tips?

Hi Cherokee,
I did poke around a bit and could not quite come up with any good ideas. The 96 I have has the reservoir inside the hood right in front of the passenger. 2 pump motors on the bottom. The whole thing looks easy enough and one of them is super rusty. Might as well change one or both. But, this style has the locking nut inside the reservoir. I saw one Youtube where the guy said he got his little brother to do it, cause his hands fit. Anyone have any tips on how to change this if you don't have baby arms? It looks pretty frustrating..
The two motors look a bit different too so, I'll have to take a close look before replacing, probably would like to change both.

Any input, tips or stories welcome.

Many thanks,
Andy.Raleigh

I used a deep socket on a swivel extension. I held the tank upside down so I could position the nut in the right place and then used my little finger to get it centered. Then screwed in the pump until I was sure it started and was not cross threaded. Once started, flipped the tank right side up and turned the pump to align the outlet, then snugged up the nut.

On my '88, both pumps are the same. I see yours list 2 different part numbers but don't know what's the difference. Possibly the connector?

Saudade,

Thank for that excellent solution, I'll give it a try!
Yes, I believe the 96 I have has one reservoir tank and
on the bottom are both the front and rear pump motors.
The front splits in 2 of course and the other travels to the back.

Many thanks,
