I just picked up a 96 that is having trans problems. When driving it shifts nice and smooth with power. But after a few minutes it starts acting like the trans is in limp mode and slipping or sometimes acts like it is in neutral. When this happens all I do is shift to N turn key off then right back on. Then its fine till next few minutes

Any ideas? I'm going to do the following tomorrow

Flush the trans and put a new filter and fluid.
Check TPS with volt meter

Thanks in advance for you help

Looks like you are really trying to max out your post count, j/k lol. Have you tried adjusting the TV cable yet?

I have today. Not sure if it needed it but did it anyways. Its almost like I'm resetting something when I turn the key off then back on? I just picked this jeep up Sat. so I'm not sure of the issues it had before. Just trying to get this trans problem figured out so I can at least drive it.

Do yourself a favor DO NOT flush the trans if you want to change out the fluid just drain it. Then replace what you drained. Do this 2 or 3 time until the trans fluid is back to it normal bright red color. Then replace the trans filter/screen. Doing a trans flush has been known to cause major problem with out transmissions.

new filter and fluid worked. Already went out and got some mud on her. Now I need a lift and good tires.
