Default 96 sport 4.0 start no start

Ok bought the jeep runs good on first fire. (rich tho). So the coolant temp sensor came up looked at and it's not plugged in reason being the plug is diffrent and the sensor is for a 96 as I bought it before I looked. My question is does this not being plugged in cause it not to be fired up after I run it. Also I know that it will cause it to run rich. Also is the harness diffrent from year to year?

"does this not being plugged in cause it not to be fired up after I run it. " ?? I'm not quite following. In any case I'd find the correct sensor that matches the plug, then look for the problem after that's installed. Mine has 3, I think, and 2 of them might not affect running. Not sure. And welcome, good luck!

The coolant temperature sensor is essential. Get one online on your engine.
