Default 96' pinion angel question?

hey xj,

what is the front pinion angel supposta be on a 96 xj. its got a 4.5" lift up front and a 3-3.5" in the back running 33'.s
it has a SYE in the rear incase that matters...this is for a friends jeep...

its got a shimmy atlike 50-55mph. trying to sort it out.
he will be here soon so ill let you know if its a vibe or a shimmy of the steering wheel...
hes just curious of what the pinion angel should be in the front with 33's and a 4.5" lift

on my 96 xj I have been chasing the shimmy for three months. Did sye, trackbar, control arms double and triple checked everything. I have narrowed it down to the combo of short arms and camber. I will be doing control arm drops in a couple weeks. I think it's the angle of the arms not having enough control for the axle. I have my uppers at 16 1/4" lowers at 16 5/8 and the shimmy is almost non-existent, but my pinion is now 2 degrees above where it should be. Ideal would be 1 degree less than the angle at the transfer case output.

So to answer your question, there is no magic number. YOU need to get a magnetic angle finder, $12 at any hardware store and measure tc ouput angle and then pinion angle.
