This is my 3rd Cherokee. My first was kind of a beater (89 Pioneer), and then it fell to severe rust so I upgraded (93 Country), then upgraded a third time when I decided I wanted airbags for safety. I know this engine, it feels and sounds a certain way when it's running in top form, and I can tell when something is off just by the way it feels when I drive it. My g/f thinks I'm a nut.

I got all kinds of cupholders in my XJ . I am always checking out other cars in the boneyard to see what will fit.
If you look closely on the right you'll see the "style B" that I found in the junkyard. It's not bolted on, has never fallen off and works great since I rarely carry a passenger. Stays put even when I do, because I warn them . I had "style A" but got rid of it because of the e-brake. Jersey inspection is a pain . It was useless anyway, holes were too small.
Driver side window. No, it does not interfere with driving, and I'm left handed. My cell phone clips in the smaller pocket. Just have to make sure the drink container is sealed when I'm climbing rocks ... I use a "coozie" and all sized of cups fit fine. Cons: I have to remove it temporarily to open/close the wing window ... which I need only when I'm stuck in traffic in Philly . (I hate that city)
In the rear: came with the Husky center console insert. Better for the occasional passenger than for me, of course, but it can serve as "storage" until you get ready for your drink. Cons: Must be removed to fold the bench seat forward, so I see a short life for it there. Gonna try to see if it can be mounted anywhere else. It's steel.

Hey, you do not have to remove the steering wheel to adjust it. You can adjust at the drag link but I'm telling you it's a royal pain unless you have the right tool. Or you can get it adjusted when you get an alignment.

im not gonna get an alignment. i ended up getting my tires rotated and balanced. and ive noticed my brakes have been kinda sucky lately soooo i had them look at the brakes and my pads are just about gone. and i checked them theres like nothing left..

i should be getting style A via UPS sometime tonight. and style B does seem a little bit nicer but thats where my CB is plus i wanna mount my mic holder to the side of the cup holder instead of putting holes in the dash or somethin.

I've had style "A" in my 96 for several years and yes a few larger sizes of drink cup do not fit well. I found Wendy's drinks fit good without spilling. But, even though installing this holder is very easy, the instructions call for moving your side mirror switch from the factory location to the front of the new cup holder. The wires are just long enough to relocate the switch. Cutting out the square hole takes some time and extra care NOT to make the hole too large, the switch needs to lock into place. The E-Bake is a pain, but I have not used it for some time since my XJ is an automatic. If I ever pulled up the lever the E-brake, it probably will stay locked and not release.
The "B" style definately restricts the passenger leg room and will cause complaints.

I have considered cutting a hole in the dash, over the radio.
I've had style B (the right-of-console-and-shifter) one. It failed in 1 week. So, right or ignorant, I think all plastic "doo-dad" holders are total crap or worse.
I currently have a plywood "table" with a hole cut that perfectly fits a typical coffee cup. It is very secure and rarely spills... Check my pix... But the shape doesn't hold anything else, such as a bottle of water or a can of Coke...
Anyway, that's why I've started looking beyond all these crappy pre-made drink holders... into something more useful, and secure. Like maybe a large round hole in the top of the dashboard... with some kind of "fingers"?? Of course I'd hate to spill Coke into my new radio...
Has anyone done anything actually useful and interesting for drink holders?
