THE black relay next to the red one shows empty on the diagrams I have. Does anyone know what it operates??? Also thank you awg for the link to the repair manuals. Learning some things. Still am lost on the diagrams but learning symbols and terms. My multimeter does not have a setting for continuity. Is there another setting I can use to check fuses without removing them ??? Still looking for the ghost..lol. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance...
If the fuses have the test points on the top, you can measure across the fuse without pulling it. With the key-on, measure between each point and ground. No voltage at all says a problem is further upstream, and voltage only on one side says that fuse is blown.
Thank you guys for responding. Ok ..I don't have any Liquid Crystal Displays that I know of if that is what the LCD stands for Jim. Everything is analog. I am assuming that is what it means. Please correct me if I am mistaken about that.. Like I said, I am pretty ignorant of electrical except for the bare basics. I have never had to do this before. Usually my vehicles just needed mechanical parts replaced. No electrical short issues before. Thank you ALL for responding and sharing your knowledge with me. I really appreciate it. Am going to test the fuses tomorrow Jim and Lawsoncl. Thank you for telling me the procedure.
If you've ever seen a tool that looks like a screwdriver with a wire hanging from it with an alligator clip on it, that's a cheap continuity checker, perfect for fuses. The clip goes to ground, and there's a small incandescent bulb in the handle of the tool. The tip of the "screwdriver" is pointed, and placed on the fuse blades/ends, which completes a circuit while keyed on, lighting the bulb in the handle.
Makes quick work of testing fuses, both glass and blade type, and they're super cheap and available everywhere...grab one at the dollar store or harbor freight, totally worth having. Electrical work can be daunting at first but once you start learning it it becomes invaluable. Hang in there, you'll get through it!
Not the same as the PDC under the hood roler . This one is under the dash and has no lid on it. I have 3 on this 96. Under dash left side footwell. Under dash up by right side of the steering wheel and left of the ashtray (that's this one) and under hood PDC. On this one I have switched relays to no avail. I can feel the 2 for the door locks activate as I toggle the lock\un lock switch on the drivers door.
Ok..got a "test light". Checked fuses at PDC under hood. All lit up both sides of fuse. So I guess they are good. Checked fuses in box under dash on left side firewall in driver foot well. With the key off these did not light up at all either side of fuse. Those were #2 (Radio, Cigar lighter.) # 5 (Blower motor.) #11(Headlamp delay module, Horns) #13 (Power door locks.) #17 (Instrument cluster gauges, Headlamp delay module, Chime module, Overhead console.) #19 (Instrument panel lamps, Radio illumination.) With the key on #17 lit up but not the other ones. (Are they even supposed to light up at all with the key off ???) So I guess the problem is "upstream" ??? Does that mean between the fuse box and PCM ??? Or between the fuse box and the battery ??? I am trying to learn how to read the wiring diagrams but not understanding them yet. Does anyone have knowledge of what I have diagnosed in this post and have a suggestion where to go from here ??? Thank you for all your help to get me to this point. P.S. does the PCM control anything other than the drivetrain ??? Swapping it out with a plug and play will not affect the in-cabin electrical issues would it ???

Look on the schematic for one of the fuses that doesn’t have power.
Follow the path of power to it.
It will have a a feed and an output.
Hope this helps.
I’ll open the schematics tonight on my laptop.
Im old and can’t see them well enough on my phone.
Yes Jeff...it helps to a point. Like I said I am trying to learn the diagrams\schematics and symbols. It is kind of a "sensory overload" to my brain. I am just praying I can find the problem and fix it. The more isolated I can get it the easier to find it. Evidently the issue is before the interior fuse box and after the PDC under the hood if I am assuming correctly what these fuse tests are telling me. If you could look at the diagrams\schematics for me I would be eternally grateful for your help and knowledge since I still haven't a clue what I am looking at..lol. I have been looking at the FSM, reading and looking at the diagrams and the only thing that keeps standing out to me is all these sensors and in cabin issues seem to ground at some circuit called Z1. Does any one know what or where that is ??? Any help is greatly appreciated gentlemen (and ladies). Thank you in advance.
