Hello all,

I have a <96 gas tank skid from the junkyard I am ready to put onto my 2001 XJ. I know I will have to modify it to make it fit over the tank, as is specified here:

I am not worried about that. I also have a hitch, so my question is, what order should I put the skid and hitch on? According to what i have found searching, the order is as follows (with matching years for the vehicle and the skid):

- frame, hitch, then skid on 96 and down.
- frame, skid, hitch on 97+.

What order for the hitch and skid do I use if I have a 97+ vehicle and a <96 skid?

 

ON my 2000 I have frame, skid then hitch...

 

Is your skid from a 96 or earlier XJ? Thanks!

 

It's the original 2000 skid I am guessing...also I have the exhaust hanger plate in between the skid and the hitch...
