How do you disconnect this? I can't figure out what to do with the blue triangle tab and don't want to break it. Harness loom has melted wires and I'm trying to remove the whole thing. I mean to repair it unless I can find a replacement.
Many thanks,
Andy 96 left drivers side
trying to be helpful, I might be wrong, pic is not quite clear enough
It seems to split in the middle, I like to lube them with a little WD40 first
I have a notion that towards the bottom of the pic, that black piece that is underneath the upper black tab, is a lock tab, and needs to be removed, either by pushing in an extracting, or just pulling it out
then the plug can be pulled apart,,, but I could be wrong, although I do have a '96
In the first picture my first thought was those blue pieces get pulled out a little and that lets you separate it.
How did you end up doing it?
In the second shot it almost looks like the black part is just a connector.
And the 2 blue parts separate from it.
Also that clip in the lower part of the picture on top of the black part looks like one of those slide in lets you clip the connector to a hole in the body to keep it from hanging loose things.
Sorry I don't know the exact function of these connectors however I did manage to get the both apart. The first was was easy (left wall drivers side), I just got thrown by the big blue triangle,
which probably has something to do w/ the pin(s) release. All that was needed there was the top center lift and release. Drivers left side wall.
Sorry that pic is fuzzy but you can see my finger point at the center bump where the clip goes.
The second one was tricky, also got thrown here by the double blue pin clips ( not the connector itself ) . There are two little 'covers' on the sides. You have to go under those w/ a tiny flathead and put them out to release. DO NOT pull the blue double tabs as you will end up with spaghetti wires.. double blue tabs from under center of dash.
Hope this helps anyone in the future, here's the final scary full dash removal: I marked the harness on all the zip connections to get it back in right after I overhaul it..
