Mine '96 doesn't have the easy fuel regulator on the fuel rail. I am finally taking to a Jeep guy . Tired of all this sensor changing. Hopefully he can at least diagnose for sure...

My cutting out problem is gone! So definitely try to find and fix dry-rotted vacuum lines. One line that was really nasty was the one that ran to the fuel pressure regulator!I replaced that and all is well, I actually ended up replacing either the whole vacuum line or just the fittings on 5 or 6 lines and eliminated 1 or 2 that were completely unnecessary. It just took a little bit of time, about 2 hours and a lot of patience to figure out which ones were needed and which ones weren't.

Any leads yet? Mine seems to be getting a little worse. Going to have a look at the throttle body and iac and see if that's dirty.

YES! He drove while hooked up to computer ( way better then autozone) and realized I only have one 02, and that wasn't working. So he said get 2 new O2 sensors should do the trick. I replaced Tps, CPs , idle sensor and cleaned throttle body to no avail. Fingers crossed on o2!

Good luck! I was poking around yesterday and noticed some oil in the air filter, so I'm thinking the rear CCV may be clogged. Both of the CCV grommets are in bad shape, I think, because the elbows have a little play. I may just replace all of that. I'm thinking a vacuum leak could be causing my problem.
