Default 96' Country not hitting all cylinders.

i have a 96 cherokee country w/ inline 6 4.0L

I've owned the car for about 10 years, but the last 3-4 i've only been using it 1-2 times a week for groceries. That and 4x4 in the winter time. It has about 140k miles on it.

last summer on a 100mile trip the check engine light came on.. and then turned off. no noticed changes.. after that it would stay on for a day or 2 and then turn off for a week. after a while it started running rough, and is only hitting on 5 cylinders. I changed the plugs, wires, distributer cap.. then whole distributer.

Changing those things helped a bit, but it's still off and not hitting every cylinder. It idles roughly, but if the gas is on it seems to run well. If you bring it up smoothly to like 65mph you can't even feel it missing until you let it level out or decelerate. after this it sort of chugs or jumps.

I'm getting ready to try and sell it so i need to fix as many problems as possible. It also has a drip leak on the brake line, a leak on the rad
iator hose, and could use a rebuilt starter

how much do you guys think i should price this at? the 4x4 works perfectly in every setting, and it has every option except leather seats.. was told it has a dana 44 rear axle, but on wikipedia it says that it probably does not..

Thanks for any help. Sorry that my first post is a new topic.. i looked for similar problems that other people have had through the search function and came up w/ nothing.

D44...dought it...unless it was a special order. More than likely Chrysler 8.25

first thing to do would be pull the codes.

If youhave changed all the IGN components than you may have a Injector Problem. Or a Mechanic issue with the Valves

code 12 is your battery has been disconnected within the last 50 cranks or something.

so if there was a problem w/ the power module then the car wouldn't start at all right? so it is probably the coil.. if it is an electrical problem..

should i buy a compression tester?

this **** is why i'm a bicycle mechanic!
