Default 96 cherokee TC help

Hello recently purchased a 96 4 door cherokee with the 4.0 in it, looking to get a lift for it, i want to buy the 3.5 inch rough country lift and i see that they recommend getting the sye, which im all for, however i need to know what transfer case i have, if anyone can help me or tell me where i can find the info that be great!

you dont need a sye for 3.5 inch lift. if you look at your tc their is a badge and it says on that.

Every jeep is differant, lift it, then you will see for sure on the sye.

ok cool yea i want to buy the 3.5 inch lift then maybe add one inch or 2 inch spacers on top of that, so ill see how it goes, it looks as if the sye isnt that hard to install anyways. might just do it to be safe not sure yet, thanks for the help greatly appreciated!

Dont lift and add spacers, buy the lift you want and be done with it. Trust me, dont make the same mistakes many of us have made. Usually when we tell you not to do something its because we've done it ourselves and regretted it. lol

ok yea im thinkin im surely getting the 3.5 inch rough country lift, and then im thinking ill get a transfercase from the local scrapyard for 40 bucks and build it up if i have problems with the one thats in there.
