Just got a 96 cherokee and it starts up fine idles rough and stalls runs rough when giving it gas it needed a new fuel pump which was replaced as well as the filter and strainer. The iac was replaced. The throttle body thoroughly cleaned checked the manifolds for leaks checked vacuum lines for leaks. I'm stuck I'm not sure what else it could be. Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated thanks. Dave.

this may sound obvious but my 96 was running a little off for a long time til i finally figured out the previous owner had mixed up the firing order and fixed it to where the jeep would run but not well. check into that..

The air filter is new I popped off the intake to see if there's any difference which there is not. There is a code I'm gonna borrow a code reader to find out today what the code is, the distributer is fairly new and was running fine after that was changed. The strange part is I ran the car sunday for 30mins no hiccups or anything and I went a few places sunday night again no problems. Tuesday I went to start it and it was running like crap. The fuel pressure is good also.

Could a bad o2 sensor cause this much havoc?

I wouldn't think the o2 would do that, but you need to get the codes out of it. all the big chain parts stores will read it for free.

Check ALL vac lines, mine was caused by a combo of vac leak, bad o2, and tps not adjusted

not sure on the '96 if you have to manually adjust the tps, or if it's done by the computer. if it's not adjusted properly it will not run right.
