Sorry but they're not all the same (even with the same model numbers). I learned that when my plan to put my '96 spare in my '99 was blown out of the water by what I learned on this very forum.

so I unhooked my plug that goes to the shift solenoids inside the transmission and I can manually shift it feel like I am missing one of the lower gears tho so don’t know why it’s not doing it automatically

Google and some of the suppliers are wrong. The extra plug from the wiring harness with no place to connect on the 96 trans was a big clue that something changed, The 1996 rear output speed sensor will not work with the 2000 trans computer, and the trans computer just thinks you're not moving. Sticking the 2000 sensor in the hole won't work either.
What was wrong with the 2000 trans? The AW4 is pretty robust and usually any problems are electrical issue and not an internal mechanical issue (TPS or solenoids, or throttle-trans cable not adjusted correctly). It's almost never lupus the trans computer. If the 2000 is actually mechanically bad, you can swap over parts to get the rear sensor working, but you're still going to throw codes for the non-existent front sensor.
