96 4.0 H.O. Motor Oil Pump Swap
I replaced the oil pump in a cherokee i recently bought. truck had good oil pressure when i first looked it over and then decided to buy it from guy at work. this truck sat in his driveway from time i looked it over first time to when the oil pump gave. literally he drove it to work which is less then 3 miles, then drove it back home. it sat 1 week then he went to start it and let it warm up and the oil pressure guage showed nothing. so he shut it off. he offered to me for less $ if i wanted to fix it...so i did. now, the only time this truck ran this way was when we loaded it and then unloaded it and i drove it into my garage. maybe 5 minutes total run time on the motor after the pressure item noticed.
i installed a new melling H.V. output oil pump. now all is good and pressure is rock solid. i didn't notice hardly any gold colored residue in bottom of pan.
shoudl i be concerned with this motor at this point? truck was meticulously maintained its entire life till the pump gave. truck runs beautiful and sounded quiet. any concerns to be worried about?

in some High RPM apps oil will Pool in the Valve area and starve the pump.....however the oil return holes in the 4.0 are big enough i dont see that being a issue
