96 4.0 in a 99 xj?
hello i am new to the forum but not reallly to cherokees, ive owned 2 now.
here is my question. i have a 1999 cherokee with the 4 liter motor. one day i was doing the oil change and noticed on the sticker on the valve cover that it looks like the motor says its a 1996 model. i heard that only 99' and 00' interchange. is this true? or what is the difference? just computer stuff? any info would be greatly appreciated

As far as Im concerned the blocks are the same but they changed the head out and of course all the other stuff that makes it hard on us. lol Do you know what model head you have?

Ya they changed to different heads from 84-90 91-95 96- Man I cant remember so some one else chime in. Its been a long day lol
