95' XJ No start, Cutoff while driving
I got a 1995 XJ sport two door
Five speed manual with the 4.0L
It has a new alternator and battery.
It cut out on me this morning while driving. Just died, no sputter or nothing.
The ignition switch has been giving me troubles and will only work if I turn it about halfway to the on position. It still turns the engine over fine but it cranks and cranks with no go.
Could the ignition switch be the issue here? Or is this more common with a blown fuse or sensor somewhere?
I didn't see any blown fuses though I suspect a relay. Would the engine still crank if the starter relay was gone?
Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

It was the crank position sensor.
That thing is terrible to get to. I had about 3 feet in extensions with a swivel on the end and an 11mm socket to get to it. I had to go get a better swivel so it could go straight onto the bolt but eventually I got it.
The thing started right up.
instructions to replace the sensor found here.

with a 5 speed you should be able to reach it without a swivel head, I did. it mounts to the top of the bell housing the goes up the firewall to the top and back of the engine, unplug from there. about a 34.00 fix, last guy told me it should be a biannual fix. after replacing mine I could see why. all the plastic or rubber coating on the wire was gone and the wire was down to a single thread of wire.
