I've been looking into alot of the gauge stuff myself with a similar situation, mine has the lights and I want a full cluster. I don't think the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster is the same between those years. Though it may be possible for the gauges to be installed with some modifications of wiring, it may just be easier to look on craigslist or junkyards to find a cluster for that year. You just run a risk as far as the electronics being somewhat sensitive unless you are used to work like that. (Speaking from experience, when I was younger and dumber). Once the cluster is set, then just change over the two sensors for oil pressure and coolant temperature and it should be good. I'd be curious to know if it does work though.
