Default 95 XJ ball joint job

Next week I will have the ball joints replaced on my 95 Cherokee. Do I need to have the front end aligned after this work? Other vehicles that I have owned require alignment after replacement.

Short answer=Yes

I do all of my own alignments on my XJ's. All you can set on a XJ is "toe"

You can check caster/camber on a rack but you can do little to adjust it. On later model XJ's the LCA bracket, frame side, is adjustable with shims so that you can adjust caster but you can create driveline vibes by messing with this setting. Camber is set by the ball joints and "C's", the rack can tell you if you have a bent "c".

I use two 4' long pieces of angle iron welded to two old wheels. I mount those then measure the distance at the rear of the two sitcks, then measure the distance at the front of the two sticks. I set the front 1/16" closer than the rear measurement.

After that check the steering wheel "center" and adjust that at the drag link turnbuckle and call it good.
