Does the vehicle roll with the shifter in park and the xfer case not in neutral? Park is mechanical, so if it rolls then you are not connected somewhere versus a hydraulic or shifting issue. Count the splines on output shaft of the 91 transmission you just pulled out. They switched mid-year 1990, but a 1991 might have gotten a 21-spline. If it is a 21-spline then the 1995 transmission output shaft is not connected to the xfer case input even though it bolted up just fine.

Transmission went through all gears grinded when I go from reverse to park. The transmission i pulled out was a 23 spline that was the original transmission to the jeep. The 95 transmission i put in is a 21 spline I'm assuming. Have yet to take it back out due to weather. I went through all gears while in drive I could shift tcase through all gears no grinding or nothing so i figured tcase and trans wasnt connected some how. But idk what I could possibly do to make this work without ripping out new trans and tcase and getting a later model like a 93

And yes the jeep rolls while in park. That's what made me think tcase isnt attached to trans

I suspect that really wasn't an 1995 XJ AW4 he installed. The symptoms certainly sound like it was an earlier 21-spine. It's probably time to pull the xfer case off and look. I'd be curious to backprobe the rear output speed sensor on the transmission and look for a/c voltage with the engine running and in (D). That would tell you if the transmission output shaft is spinning.
