I had a 97 tranny put in last summer because it started leaking bad and drive gear was out.Got it back started leaking a little put lucas in it(2) keep it together till a month ago started leaking alot! My mech. friend took it apart again replaced all seals and something called a wear seal,got a diff. torque converter,had diff. people look at who said was all good.The trans spline an bearing all look great. good an tight,no scratches or what have u.all he did was let it idle,no leaks,till u drive it! Then it starts to leak again.Help don"t know where to go from here ,he is at a loss.It"s automatic ,4 wheel drive.

in front by oil pan,seems to be coming from inside bell housing,

 

There's an o ring around the pump. Was that changed along with the seal? That's usually what puts fluid into the bellhousing.

 

yes the o ring was replaced,the front seal,rear seal.something called a wear seal allso,The torque converter was replaced with a different one even though mine looked good.It started leaking bad last summer when the drive gear went out thats the reason i had a good used tran. put in.It"s leaking from thr same area.??? I did some searching here and seen where some people with same problems found kinked cooler lines or cloged.My friend did not replace them as that had been done last summer before he got it.He did find a pin hole in the front seal when he took it out,so replaced everything he could assuming that would fix the problem.But,it hasn"t.Everyone is at a loss to the problem. Hoping someone would know where to go from here,as I have a lot of money in it.It runs very good and 4 wheel drive works great so I hate to give up just yet !

 

Are 110% certain it's not engine oil?

Sounds like you might be looking at a leak from the Rear Main Seal.

 

yes it "s trans. fluid. It does have a oil pan gasket leaking oil too.I used aan ols white t-shirt to wipe things off so i could tell for sure.
