Default 95 jeep cherokee straight piping.

I intend to leave the cat on so it is still legal. Is it bad for the valves to not have the backpressure of the muffler?

I ripped off my exhaust once, had to run without on the resr of thethe trail. I really liked the sound. But that's opinion.

It will hurt nothing whatsoever. Period.

I run my 99 with just a cat and pipe all the way back. Have had it right next to other real pricey kits and it sounded just the same. To a T! If you are looking for a ricer sound try a dynomax turbo muff. It lasted 2 days on mine only because I did it late at night. The only kit for a 4.0 I have herd that sounds better was on a YJ by Banks. It was sweet but for $500 just for the header no thanks. My current set up is the only way I will run from now on.

I ran open exhaust. I started the jeep with the new header and down pipe but no exhaust and drove it around the yard. It was too loud for a jeep.

I never understood the fantasy with making your jeep loud. I raced circle track for a decade and followed it up with a bunch of drag racing. I have a hot rod that is headers into straight pipes into short glass packs with no dumps, its death loud, and on a built v8 sounds good, but I cant even drive the thing like a normal vehicle without worrying about a loud exhaust ticket.

Its a jeep, a small rumble is all it needs. Drones at highway speed suck. I'd rather race an open header car without ear plugs that drive more than 20 minutes on the highway listening to a ****ty drone.

Thats how I feel. I think straight pipes and a silencing tip might make just what I need...

Ran with just cat for a while. Too loud and obnoxious. Sounded like a average engine straight piped. Not good like a 72 skylark rolling by with a 454 big block

Notice any effect on power? Heard it affects the deceleration.

I had to cut my exhaust off after the cat to make it off the trail about 2mo ago. Been running that way ever since and I hate it. I swear I lost mpg's because of this and it just sounds like crap.
