Did u check the relay as cliffy suggested?
And the plug for power?
And I would check all cooling parts/functions,and replace as necessary.

It turns out it was the sensor for the dash gauge... Someone broke it off from the metal bottom and tried to cement it back on... Pulled the plug off and the gauge dropped back down to stone cold... Plugged the new sensor in and put the plug back on and it went back to the red... But I drove 3-5 miles to my mechanic and he could put his hand on the motor no problem and the hoses still were soft...

Fluid is full... Mechanic I trust told me that its normal that it makes that noise when you max the power steering its a blow off valve or pressure release...

Started it and he noticed the coolant fan doesn't work. Also was missing a coolant reservoir cap and the vacuum line along the right side by the headlight was cracked. Hit the local scrapyard found a country with the same motor etc. Snagged a brand new radiator cap, reservoir cap and vacuum line. Got back home put all these in and still getting close to the red... Bled all the air bubbles out of the radiator cap but still the issue remains. I'm thinking the coolant fan not working and possibly the thermostat stuck open? Possibly the water pump? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated

So sorry I have been absent... Been plugging away at this issue for a couple days... Replaced the lower hose due to the old one being soft towards the bottom and whatnot... Gotta new one and refilled coolant etc... Still reading in the red Smfh... Water pump is flowing coolant but after 20 mins valve cover and hoses are still ice... So I think its just the gauge in the cluster that is geeked... If anyone has any other ideas im all ears

Maybe try testing the coolant temp sensor to see that it is sending the right signal to your gauge. I just did it, check my build thread.

i took the one off the rear and the gauge went down to stone cold... Put a new one in and right back to over heating... Took the plug off the front one and finally my fan kicked on... I put the plug back in and the fan cuts right off... Put a new one in and same result... I just replaced thermostat and upper/lower rad hoses new cap and fresh coolant... Made sure all air bubbles were out... Getting good pressure and flow so water pump is good...
